Luann Jones-Foster is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CA) specializing in providing business and tax advice to private companies and their owners. Luann has almost 30 years of experience providing advice and developing practical tax planning options for complex income tax situations, most recently as a partner with a Big-4 accounting firm. In that role, in 2017 and 2018, Luann worked with a small national team of professionals to interpret and train the firm’s tax professionals on the most significant and wide-ranging changes to income tax legislation related to private companies in 40+ years.
Luann specializes in providing advice for the more complicating income tax issues that will arise in the lifetime of any private company and/or its owners from developing structures for business expansion; planning for acquisitions of new businesses or sales of existing businesses and exit/succession planning for shareholders to complex will and estate planning. In addition, Luann has experience with navigating the taxation of First Nations governments and their off-reserve businesses.
Luann is committed to working with her clients’ existing trusted accountant and other advisors to complement their deep understanding of their clients’ needs to provide specific advice for complex tax situations.
Luann was a regular contributor to the Business Insights column in the Telegraph Journal for 5 years and has authored other papers for the Canadian Tax Foundation, Globe and Mail and Family Business Matters Magazine. She has also been a presenter for a number of Wallace McCain Institute programs and CPA New Brunswick professional development sessions.
